Eddie's Artistic Philosophy
Democratic Art
"Art must not be the prerogative of a few chosen ones. Masterpieces belong to everyone and everyone has the right to reinterpret them, even by coloring them."
Intelligent Irony
"Irony is the universal language. Laughing at something doesn't mean disrespecting it, but making it more human and therefore more understandable."
Cultural Bridge
"My job is to create bridges: between street and academy, between past and present, between high art and pop culture. The important thing is never to lose authenticity."
"When you strongly desire something foreign to your body, a painting, a statue, a woman, you are almost driven to swallow it, to devour it to make it your own; drawing it, tattooing it, for me is the same as making it mine."— Stefano Guerrini
How an Eddie Book is Born
The 5-Step Process
Historical Research
In-depth study of the artist and the original work. Every detail has a reason to exist and must be respected even in reinterpretation.
Finding the Irony
Identifying the element that makes the work "shabby" while maintaining its essence. Irony must be intelligent, never gratuitous.
Sketches and Drafts
Dozens of pencil drafts to find the perfect balance between recognizability of the original and originality of the reinterpretation.
Digitization
Digital transfer optimized for coloring. Every line is designed to be colored easily but without losing important details.
Testing and Refinement
Testing with different types of colors and feedback from beta testers. Only when everything is perfect does the drawing enter the collection.
